Grace's Birthday

September is always busy for me or I should say beginning end of August. Several Summer parties in my husband's family which mostly take place outside town, started from end of July until sometimes in September. But the most importants are our daughter's birthday on September 1st and my husband's birthday on September 9th. Well, I will tell about the birthday of our precious little girl who just turned to 2 years old. After all, my little girl comes first above everything else, I have to admit because of the tradition in my husband's family, this is such a big deal for me to prepare neatly.
I'm from Indonesia and I want to have a bit of Indonesian meal for Grace, just so she can understand that she's half Indonesian.

Actually I don't have to do that because preparing Indonesian meal sometimes a little bit time consuming, but I feel that I have responsibility for this 'mix girl' so that she understand Indonesian Culture. In her daily meals, I don't blame her if she prefers to eat french fries, pizza or mac & cheese and ice cream, she is half American too and there's nothing wrong about it and her food journey still long ways away until she determine the perfect culinary for her healthy life style ( I hope she choose the 'healthy' one). So I decided to make Indonesian Yellow Rice with all the accessories along with it such as, sliced omelet, meatball with coconut sauce, chicken wings, Javanese fried noodle (I made it fro whole wheat spaghetti). Thank God that I found 'Bumbu Kokita' for yellow rice weeks ago when I went to Asian Supermarket, this made so easier for me.

So on September 1st, we had a little Indonesian party with her daddy and her grandma, and on September 4th was actually the celebration with her cousins, uncles and aunties.
MIght sounds crazy for some of my Indonesian friends when I told them, I prepare all the Indonesian meals by myself, but it worked for me nicely, probably because I cooked with 'love'...ha..ha!, it's true! and I like it because by the end of the day I felt great doing something special for my little girl.
