Bath Time Story

I have been private blogging for a couple months now. So far 'writing' or I should say being infront of our computer is become and escape from my routine and I declared that writing is part of my 'me' time beside reading, or watching TV, which right now the portion is reducing because my daughter needs to watch kid's show..(OMG..!, so this actually not my 'me' time then!.), many times I don't get to watch 'Rachael Ray Show' or 'Martha Stewart', or 'Ellen' or 'Dr. Oz'...pour me!..well it's my mommyhood, my commitment for my daughter to not watching TV too much didn't work.
Although I stick with the schedule to teach her everything appropriate for preschooler before she watchs TV..(that will be other blog).

Part of my routine is giving a bath to my sweetie pie, I consider this as 'challenging chore' because usually is about 6:30 or 7PM everyday and those times are when my 'battery''s getting low, and the 'exhausted sign' start to blink.
Beginning with chasing her arround, when I say 'it's bath-time.!' in my language, she knew it and start to run,  and her lovely daddy sometimes help her to undressed, and she sometimes refuse when I brush her teeth, so, again, her daddy would come like a hero try to amuse her, with his famous silly dance.:), after that when she's not in good mood, she would be super cranky didn't want to get into bathtub, but once she's in the tub, it took 30-45 minutes even more for her to play and then refuse to get out from tub. Of course I never leave her to far when she's in there, so, what did I do while waiting for Princess Dora..? (recently she loves Dora!)..well when I finished clean her up then I would sit down in the bath stool, relax.. (actually I tried to gain my energy back, ha..ha) and start telling her story 'when I was kid', story about my happy childhood, where I live with my parents and three siblings, where we always have large backyard with lots of Banana Trees, and chickens, where I played kite with my brother in the soccer field close to our house, and played high and seek. And while Grace, my daughter still playing with all those bath toys, I sang some Indonesian songs, even I sang 'National Anthem of Indonesia' called 'Indonesia Raya'...this may sound little odd, but it's really fun.
In Indonesia, kids usually take a bath two times, in the morning and once more in the evening arround 4-5 PM because of the humid temperature make us easier to sweat. And mostly we put water in medium bucket (as tall as adult's knee) and with special small bucket we scoop the water and shower it to our body then soaping and shower again and done, doesn't take long, of course if still toddler like Grace, momma, or aunts or maid or other relative will help them.  Babies have special bucket, larger and wider similar a mini tub.
The very popular song when we're having a bath (especially in Central Java, where I was born) is 'Bebek Adus Kali', meaning 'A Duck is Swimming in the River'....so I sing that song too, in every Grace's Bath Time, and usually she stare at me, wondering..ha.ha..because the song is actually in Javanese Language. Those not always work, especially when she's too sleepy then fussy for long bath, but I love when we catch up on our day, eventhough I stay at-home, but the household chores manytimes made us busy with ourselves for a while and for me my daughter's bath time is one of the best time to have quality conversation, although she may not understand all, or to busy with the toys, or she talks by herself, but I feel great afterwards. Thank You God!

he..he..thank you Mrs Katon, that's right, bonding activities can be created even if you only have little time, it's about creativity...sing penting dijak omongan terus, meskipun si anak keliatan cuek seperti ga mendengarkan,tp sebenernya dia merekam omongan kita.
