...almost Thanksgiving Day in America

It's third week of November now, and today, Monday the 15th, it's 50F in the morning (about 10C). This is not bad (except plus strong winds later on in the afternoon, when I'm writing this) comparing when we went to the Zoo on Saturday, the 13th, it's was freezing, probably arround 40's,..Whereever you go whether to supermarket, mall, salon, zoo...you'll see harvest and thanksgiving decorations. They're pretty and the browns tone are just perfect as the weather getting colder and colder.

Unlike Thanksgiving in Canada which occur on the second Monday of October (since 1957). In America (United States) Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday of November, which this year will be on November 25th.
Thanksgiving was a holiday to express thankfulness and gratitude and appreciation to God, family and friends for which have been blessed of material possesion and relationships. Traditionally, it has been a time to give thanks for a bountiful harvest.
Whether you're a religious person or not, but when we say 'Thanksgiving' especially in November, we always think about complete Turkey Dinner, with stuffing, gravy, spiral ham, pumpkin pie, apple pie, cranberry sauce...etc, each family has their own favorite meal to accompany the big bird called Turkey.
What make me interesting is I just found out, that Thanksgiving also celebrated in the city of Leiden, Netherlands, this is according to Wilkipedia, it said that many of the Pilgrims who would end up at the Plymouth Plantation had resided in the city of Leiden from 1609-1620, many of whom had recorded their births, marriages and deaths at the Pieterskerkchurch. To commemorate this, a non denominational Thanksgiving Day service is held each year on the morning of the American Thanksgiving Day in the Pieterskerk, a Gothic Church in Leiden.
Just for your information, I love pumpkin pie, we ate PP not only for desert, but for weekend breakfast....yuumm..! When I was kid in Java, my grandmother sometimes cook pumpkin as our afternoon snack. It was different of course, we don't have pumpkin pie type thing, but my grandma peel of the pumpkin, diced it and put in the big pot with water some cinnamon stick and Javanese palm sugar, ..hhhmm..! it's one of my favorite.
Well, to be honest, I have to get back to mijn mooie keuken (my lovely kitchen),..this is because I thank God, one of my husband's friend gave us one giant squash and one small green squash (I don't think it's accorn one) sort of like a green pumpkin, well whatever..!, I slaughed that small one and burned my calorie alot,..ha..ha..because it's so hard and firm, I should ask my hubby to do that next time, and I'm cooking my squash in the crock pot...yay..! that way, I have time to take a break and we'll have dinner with squash and turkey pot roast which I already bought the other day!. By the way, the wind starts scary me, the maple tree in this picture just lost half of the super yellow leaves...
(Thanks Wilkipedia..)
